Parent / Student Agreement

Purpose & Philosophy

Parents are responsible for their children’s education, spiritual development, and character under God’s specific instructions. As a unique group of Christian homeschooling families, Vine’s purpose is to help parents provide a rigorous, academic, Christ-centered education for our children. We cannot merely be a consumer institution. The structural model of Vine Academy is based on educational partnerships with like-minded, active, engaged, vision-oriented families. Most of a Vine student’s learning will be done at home. Families must be active participants in a community of Christian parents praying for, serving, promoting, and engaging in the education of the children.

Vine Students

  • Are from a Godly, Christ-centered family.
  • Are growing in Christian character and faith.
  • Have good relationships with family, peers, and authority and willingly submit to their parents, teachers, and the administration.
  • Realize that it is a privilege to be part of this community.
  • Can organize themselves to learn in our environment. (Learning two days a week is not for every student or family.)
  • Show diligence in their studies and take responsibility for their learning.
  • Have family support for learning which includes support for student weaknesses.

Vine Parents

  • Are hands-on; each family is a contributing addition to our community.
  • Strive for excellence.
  • Are family centered.
  • Are part of a broader community of believers and cooperate with and support the role of the local church.
  • Prepare their children for eternity and useful service in their personal lives, families, churches, and communities here on earth by supporting each child’s maturity process physically, academically, socially, and spiritually for the glory of Christ.
  • Enroll a student in Vine Academy as an act of educational partnership with a Christian, academic institution dedicated to helping parents educate their children.

Parent/Student Agreement

  • We have read and understood Vine’s philosophy of Christian education, and we agree with the purpose and philosophy.
  • We, as parents, accept the challenge to “train up a child in the way he should go” (Proverbs 22:6), and we commit that this training will be carried on in the home. We place our trust in Vine Academy as a Christ-honoring community for student learning and spiritual growth; however, we understand that we are homeschooling our child(ren) and take responsibility for their education. We believe that it is our job as parents to oversee our children’s education and character development. We understand that Vine may not offer all the classes that our student needs in any given year, and the courses offered may not necessarily meet graduation requirements.
  • We understand our financial obligations and will fulfill them to pay for the educational services Vine is providing for our child. We agree to pay the tuition according to the arrangements made and will conclude all required payments before the last day of classes. We understand that late payments will be charged a fee as outlined in the current year’s tuition schedule.
  • We agree and understand that if our student(s) is/are not performing at grade level in reading, writing, mechanics, and math concepts tutoring may be required (and paid for by us) to maintain enrollment at Vine.
  • We agree that after any tuition has been paid, Vine may choose not to refund it if a student has withdrawn.
  • We have made an investigation of Vine’s program, curriculum, discipline, dress code, etc., and we agree to make them our glad-hearted choice for the coming year.
  • We will faithfully support Vine through our prayers and positive attitude, and in keeping with Matthew 18:15, we are committed to giving an excellent report by sharing any complaints and negative comments only with the people involved. Unresolved issues will be taken care of by using the Vine’s chain of command. We will not discuss grievances around students but will go directly to the administration or to the administration and teachers to address the issues of concern.
  • We understand that Vine strongly prohibits boyfriend/girlfriend relationships on campus and at Vine-sponsored activities and that Vine strongly encourages friendships between all students. We may or may not agree with Vine’s policy, but we will support it. Boys and girls are encouraged to be friends, but on campus and at Vine activities, it should not be apparent that a relationship has developed into more than a friendship.
  • We understand that Vine does not tolerate profanity, obscenity in word or action, dishonor to the Word of God, disrespect to anyone, or continued disobedience to our established policies.
  • We hereby authorize Vine to discipline if necessary for the benefit of each student as well as for the entire student body, and we give permission to the teachers and administration to make and enforce Vine’s regulations in a manner consistent with Christian principles and discipline as set forth in the Scriptures (Proverbs 22:6; 29:17; Colossians 3:30; Hebrews 12:6.) We further agree that we will cooperate and discipline our child in the home as needed.
  • We understand that the dress code for Vine stresses modesty.
  • We understand that we are financially responsible for paying for damages caused by our student, including damage to facilities, automobiles, book damage, and damages caused by abuse of other personal or church property.
  • We will support Vine by involvement in Vine-sponsored meetings and activities.
  • We pledge that if for any reason, our child does not respond favorably to Vine, we will do everything in our power to cooperate with Vine to help our child make the necessary adjustments (this is usually accomplished in the first six weeks of enrollment.) If these adjustments cannot be made, then we agree to quietly withdraw our child quickly.
  • As parents and students of Vine Academy, we do sincerely give our pledge to the above items. We understand that the failure of the parents or student to comply with the established regulations, discipline, and parental commitment, or failure to meet financial obligations will forfeit the student’s privilege of attending.
