Mission

Vine Academy is a Christian learning environment that is a unique fusion of “homeschooling and traditional schooling.” Vine’s educational premise is: At Vine, we believe that parents are responsible for their children’s education, spiritual development, and character under God’s guidance. Vine’s purpose is to come alongside you as parents to assist in your endeavor to educate your students to become godly men and women.

Our Courses:

Vine offers courses in grades 5 through 12 at First Baptist Church in Gilroy on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Some unique sessions take place on Wednesday evenings.  We offer grade-level core courses such as English, math, science, history, and other electives such as the Bible, physical education (PE), and American Sign Language (ASL) depending on the needs of our families and availability of qualified teachers.  We strive to offer class content that satisfies the California State requirements for each subject.

Our Teachers:

Vine seeks to hire teachers that are qualified, godly, and enthusiastic about their subjects. Many of the teachers are also parents of Vine students.  All teachers are encouraged to create teaching methods that incorporate different learning styles and connect the importance of the subject to the students’ lives and futures through a Biblical worldview.

Parent Involvement:

We have found that students who succeed at Vine do so primarily because their parents have made their child’s education and character a high priority in their home. Vine parents are actively involved in motivating their students and helping them learn material and complete assignments in a timely fashion. Vine families are also requested to be actively involved in other aspects of Vine student life to help build a sense of community, to provide an exceptional educational experience, and to keep costs reasonable.

Our Students:

  • Are growing in Christian character and faith.
  • Show diligence in their studies.
  • Have good relationships with family, peers, and authority.
  • Can organize themselves to learn in our environment (classes two or three days/week.)

Final Details:

Vine is not a registered private school in that we do not hold cumulative files/school records. Vine teachers assign and distribute grades quarterly directly to parents.  It is necessary for you to either file your affidavit, join a state home-schooling charter, or join a Private School Satellite Program (PSP).  Many of Vine’s families enroll in Spring Academy, a PSP offered by Dena Bless 831-801-4818 springacademy21@gmail.com
