Fine Art

Mrs. Santiago

Come learn the language of art! We will study the elements of art and design in an exciting progression through Art History, Techniques, and even Career options.  We will work on developing good habits for a flourishing art practice.  This class is intended to give students an understanding of the elements of art and design, as well as hitting the basics in traditional techniques and mediums that will leave them prepared to succeed in a college environment or just talking about why they do or don’t care for a particular work of art.  We will be discussing what art is(and isn’t!), and how it shapes and is shaped by societies throughout history.  We will hopefully be taking a couple of field trips to explore behind the scenes at Colibri Gallery/Colibri Art and Framing/ Cura Contemporary in Morgan Hill, and we will be entering their Student Art Show.  We will try to have some speakers from the local art community visit the students, and share a day in the life of a working artist.

Bible

TBA

This course is a survey course through the Holy Bible with an emphasis on helping to make the Word of God more tangible and
accessible. The purpose is to enable the student to develop a comfort with studying the Holy Bible and learning about the God
of creation, His attributes, and His Ways. We know that the Bible is spiritually discerned so we will also focus on helping
students to understand this concept and to recognize the Holy Spirit as the Helper that Jesus promised in John 14:16.
The course will begin with an introduction to the Holy Bible drawing from its text to better understand the nature, purpose,
and sufficiency of His Word. This will be followed by an overview of the structure of the Bible outlining the constituent books,
types, and testaments. From there the students will learn a variety of Hermeneutic approaches settling on a preferred model
for the remainder of the course year. Finally, the introductory section will culminate with a practical understanding of
blueletterbible.org and its uses to better understand the meaning, context and application of challenging concepts and
vocabulary within the text of scripture.
